Gifts Of the Holy Spirit - part two

Note I said 10 Spiritual gifts and you might have answered "but there are only nine ?"

But note I said "Spiritual gifts" and not Holy Spirit gifts

When remembering spiritual gifts I must remember the Trinity

The One God , The Godhead

Father Son and Holy Spirit

Remember, Father Son and Holy Spirit

The Father gives

Romans 12:6-8

The Son gives

Ephesians 4:11   I Corinthians 12:28

The Holy Spirit gives

I Corinthians 12:7-11

Now with this lets draw a parallel between two scriptures

Luke 12:18

Genesis 41:49

What is the difference between these two scriptures ?

Both are storing grain ?

Both are building bigger storage ?

The first example represents someone who stores for themselves

The second represents someone having been given much and using their position to
store for times of need and hunger

So in the second example, what is being given is being stored for  the benefit of others,
whereas the first  is benefitting no one as we never know what tomorrow will bring

This can also be seen as "with the talents"  Matthew 25:14-30

So someone who has been given might hoard and keep

Another might use what is given for the benefit of others and in so doing produce a crop
4 times over

now before moving  on lets have one more parallel

Now remember this was written by luke who was a  Physician and educated man who
tended to place things together in order

so we have

Luke 18:18-23

Luke 19:1-9

Here again we have two people who are wealthy (rich) they have hoarded up much wealth

and again lets ask the question "what is the difference between these two people ?"

Now one had hoarded up for himself and the other ( who had his eyes opened - to receive
sight) said" “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I
have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

Both scriptures are to do with the "heart" as the new testament takes things to the heart

(both rich but two different hearts - soil)

Now notice the scripture inbetween these two parallel stories ?

The first is the death of the "seed"

The second is the blind man receiving sight

The blind man receiving sight so that he might see the error of his ways and after dieing to himself
and having his eyes opened he might see to give "the gifts that God gives to others" then we move onto
the parable of the rich tax collector Zacchaeus

Also notice after this ? yes its Luke 19:11-27 which is Lukes testimony of the parable of the talents
also seen in Matthew 25:29

so to put it into plain english .......

a. I hoard up .......its taken away

b. I give.........I receive

c. I am rich and wealthy ....tomorrow I die

d. I am rich and wealthy...but I give back..and receive

1. The rich young ruler was blind...he had not received sight

2. Jesus dies

3. the blind receive sight

4. The Zacchaeus of this age gives back

The Father gives

Romans 12:6-8 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)]

The Son gives

Ephesians 4:11 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)]    I Corinthians 12:28

The Holy Spirit gives

I Corinthians 12:7-11

comes from God

1. you are right we must not communicate with the dead

2. we can however prophesy or have words of knowledge

so lets look a  biblical example

regarding prophesy

    Acts 21:11

Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.'"

other examples  1 Kings 22:11   Isaiah 20:2    Jeremiah 13:1   Jeremiah 19:1

Jeremiah 19:11    1 Timothy 4:1

and so it goes fact the entire bible is a prophetic book prophesying into  the future about what will happen and prophesies being fulfilled all through

So some term  prophesy as "teaching" and say "I prophesy"

This can be said of teaching the word of God

Now lets look at  two more parallels  between Abram and Job

firslty Abram

And we see that wealth and riches were associated with  "title" and the blessings of having
a large family and health,

whilst working alongside these were possessions, live stock, land, houses,

The number of hired men, the number of servants

So we see that it was not "how much I have tied up in offshore accounts"

Or what savings I have in HSBC or the pension or value of my house

So when we look at Abram we see that he went to rescue his nephew lot from the armies
of the four kings Genesis 14  Now Abram recovered lot his nephew and the possessions
plus food  and goods and people including women

search and refer to : Psalm 110,Study 4,The Son In The Father

Abram gives a tenth of these valuable things to Melchezidek

But to the king of sodom he gives all back

Because Abram did not want the riches of the world but rather the riches
that were in the promises of God

So all  the things that were "seen" were destroyed by the four kings as in houses and homes

Those things which were of more value than money were also taken, including women and children

At the foot of sinia the people worshipped a calf valued at a higher cost than mere money

these were family heirlooms and items that were of sentimental value or to remember someone by

So we see that Abram chose the "Promises of God" over and above worldy riches
