EnglishRose Jesus’s disciples couldn’t heal a child.

EnglishRose Matt 1714 And when they had come to the multitude, a man

came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying

15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls

into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not

cure him.”

17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be

with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”

18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that

very hour. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it

out?”

20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith

as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move;

and nothing will be impossible for you.

21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Jesus wasn’t pleased that his disciples could not heal the boy, he saw their unbelief. The disciples

were looking at the situation and what they were seeing and not looking at it in their spiritual

self

EnglishRose Matt 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of

him; and the child was cured from that very hour.

It wasn’t a lack of faith, they had already cast out demons in Matt 10, so they had the faith but

didn’t get the result that expected which is why they were confused.

v20: So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have

faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will

move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by

prayer and fasting

Mark 9: 21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said,

“From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to

destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my

unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying

to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”

26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one

dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and

he arose.

28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not

cast it out?” 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Notice that Jesus did not tell the man to have more faith and when the father said help my

unbelief, Jesus spoke faith to the boy and he was healed. Nor did he tell the disciples that they

didn’t have enough faith, He said they had unbelief.

EnglishRose So there is a distinction between a passive faith and an active faith.

Someone who is passive might be able to believe for something but they don’t fight their

unbelief and they let doubt come in.

EnglishRose You can believe and disbelieve at the same time! You don’t need

MORE faith; you just need to fight your unbelief to stop it negating your faith.

you guys with me so far?

EnglishRose How do we fight unbelief?

EnglishRose Hebrews 11.1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the

evidence of things not seen.

WatchmanPeter with the word

Hope- is in the spiritual realm; you have to be operating in the spiritual to see it. Faith is the

substance- the tangible thing you see.

EnglishRose Faith is what causes the manifestation, what will bring the healing

into your body. Its not a lie to say 'I am healed', because it is the truth in the spiritual and you

are declaring God’s word.

EnglishRose If you are talking to your pain or condition and it isn’t going and

you find yourself focusing on it, why not try speaking out that you are healed? For what you

speak out, you hear, and “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 Faith is given in seed form

EnglishRose One of the spiritual laws that God put in operation on the earth

was that all things begin with seed, produce fruit, and that fruit give out seed again.

EnglishRose Gen 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb

yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the

earth: and it was so.

EnglishRose 12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after

his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it

was good.

EnglishRose If we apply this…Galatians 2:20 (King James) I am crucified with

Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the

flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

EnglishRose Faith gives spiritual life to our flesh (in seed form). We have the

faith of Jesus Christ in us (planted). Jesus healed people and walked in health then so can we!

But we need to nurture the seed.

EnglishRose We know that we have nurtured the seed (Jesus) in our hearts

when we see the fruits of the spirit…

EnglishRose Galatians 5: 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no

law.

EnglishRose Do you remember in Mark 4 we talked about the weeds that grow

and choke the seed?

EnglishRose And then in a later study we talked about what we put our focus

on? All of this is important when we need to fight unbelief. We can’t spend all day listening to

people tell us we have a condition, or focus on the pain in our foot and expect to be miraculously

healed.

EnglishRose The only way be can counter balance the unbelief we see of hear

or experience is with God’s word.

EnglishRose Part of the armor of God is the sword of the spirit (the word as

seed), then the action is Roman 10:17, faith comes by hearing. This all contributes to the

renewing our minds.

EnglishRose All of this is pointing to the simple fact that God’s word = truth,

truth set us free.

EnglishRose It is also important that we understand what the word says and

not what we think it says. If your not receiving then reading to word can help you adjust the

antenna!

EnglishRose Laws of faith

EnglishRose The law of faith is… “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By

what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.” (Rom 3.27)

EnglishRose The law of faith is consistent it always works, never fails. Like the

law of gravity. You don’t say the law of gravity was strong today or it must have just stopped

working today.

EnglishRose there are a number of spiritual laws in place

EnglishRose All things come in seed…We have already talked through that faith

is in seed form and that we must nurture the seed for it to produce…

EnglishRose If it’s not working that you don’t understand it and you need to

read the word. God’s doesn’t violate spiritual and natural laws. God intends them to bless us but

if we don’t understand them then we cant receive our blessing.

EnglishRose This is another spiritual principle. Seek first the kingdom of God,

and all things will be added unto you. You don’t get what you aren’t seeking for.

EnglishRose Proverbs 4:20-23 tells exactly how to do it: My son, ATTEND to

my words; CONSENT and SUBMIT to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight;

EnglishRose KEEP them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those

who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance

and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

EnglishRose There are three actions there, attend, find out and meditate on.

Consent and submit, give Jesus authority over your life, we are to command with the belief that

Jesus has done it for us not ask for it.

EnglishRose Faith comes by hearing...We have also discussed Rom 10:17.

Speak your faith:

EnglishRose What we speak is what we get…Proverbs 18:20 A man's belly shall

be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

EnglishRose You body, spirit and soul respond to words, this is how you

release your faith. Don’t speak unbelief and choke your seed!

EnglishRose Satan will try and come to make you think it’s not working or God

wont do it for you. - If Satan can convince you that you can tolerate sin for what ever reason

then you will and you wont get healed. You must fight it. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore

to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

EnglishRose God wont re-do what He has already done. He is the great I AM

not the great I will do…Mark 11:23 – mountain is the problem, speak to the problem; don’t

speak to God about your problem.

EnglishRose So I want to leave you with this:Mark 5:25 Now a certain woman

had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians.

She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.

EnglishRose 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the

crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be

made well.”

EnglishRose 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she

felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in

Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched

My clothes?”

EnglishRose 31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging

You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”

EnglishRose 32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.

33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell

down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith

has made you well.

EnglishRose Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

EnglishRose The woman was healed by her faith, she spoke something positive

and then actioned her faith by touching Jesus’ garment. – The action wouldn’t work without

faith, so cherish you faith and nurture it by meditating on the word
