THE GIFT OF GOD, PART FIVE
Malachi 1:2–3
2 “I have loved you,” says the Lord.
“But you ask, ‘How have you loved us?’
“Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “Yet I have loved Jacob, 3 but Esau I have hated
...............
You might say "God loves everyone does'nt He ?"
...............
Well the two people symbolised the two nations
Joel 3 fulfillment of prophecy , also see : Jeremiah 25
GOD Loves yet many suffer or die ...all go to see God as to stand before Him but not all stay
In this we see and understand that millions may never stay in heaven or enter in
So the age old debate begins of "how can a loving God send millions to hell"
It apparent that "God is Love and that He loves everyone"
The we note that the people of sodom and gomorrah were destroyed and many other
examples of Gods wrath (not just in the old testament)
this might be assigned to God allowing satan to do these things but more so that God actually
being a higher power destroyed these cities and peoples
So with this we try to equate the two things
1. God is love
2. God destroys
with 2 Kings 14:7 you might ask why was the focus on Job in the book of job and yet many died
around him, yet it is focused on Job and his suffering ?
Even more confusing is when the israelites came out of egypt and they passed through Edom
And they had to ask for permission to pass through in Numbers 20:17
So the Israelites were forbidden to hate the Edomites in Deuteronomy 23:7
(love thy neighbour) even though edom often attacked Israel and was an enemy (love thy neighbour)
Even more interesting is that Edomites were called Idumaeans (greek) and "Idumaean" was
made "King Herod the Great" and he was the one who massacred children in Bethlehem to
try to kill the Christ child in Matthew 2:16-18
........................
1.
So we could say that "God loves everyone the same" but that "some He loves less
I have shown him less love; Genesis 29:30 , Genesis 29:31
2. Or you can say that "God hates the sin but not the sinner"
as we know....God does'nt love us any less than His Son, which brings into question
"what about those who reject God ?"
Is it less love ?
......................
GOD HATES ESAU
Malachi 1:3 SV maybe a better word to use might be "rejected"
Therefore I have rejected these people ,
Why did God reject them ? because maybe He knew they would reject Him !
Which bring us into "Gods foreknowledge"
maybe a better example of understanding might be to say "He hates what they do"
being that all flesh is made in the image of God so how can God hate someone made in His image ?
therefore God hates what they do or the way they do it or the intentions of the heart , heart
motives,
